11 years

This is a day for remembering and thanking the first responders of that day in NY, DC, and PA. It is also one in which I join thousands of others in not only thanking the first responders, but also the men and women of the Armed Forces (and their families) who keep us safe and free at home. I wrote up my memories of that day (now 11 years ago) the week after I got married.

Over the past few years I learned that a family relative had an office down the hall from where the plane collided and crashed into the Pentagon. While said relative had retired and no longer had that office, they still knew people who had offices in that wing of the Puzzle Palace.

I've also had the recent opportunity to stop by the National Memorial Park in the location of the Flight 93 crash. The NPS should be proud of themselves for a job well done in maintaining an honorable and peaceful area for others to come pay their respects. In case you're interested, it's just a short 15 mile drive off the PA tollway.

I hope this finds you all safe and well on this day and may God Bless our troops and civilians and keep everyone safe. 'Til they ALL come home.
