"Heal the World"

I've been debating all weekend whether I wanted to write this post or not. Obviiously, I have now made up my mind. One of my favorite songs of Michael Jackson's was the title of this post, "Heal the World." The first line of the chorus says it all: "Heal the world, make it a better place, for you and for me, and the entire human race. . ." As I have been around for the last 25 years of his career, I was not able to see his performance with his brothers live, but certainly remember hearing the songs once I was old enough to do so. He was a musical genius and such a creative inspiration to not only people in my generation, but also that of my parents. My heart goes out to his children and family and may God Bless them all.

In high school, I went with my mom and grandmother to visit an aunt in Ohio. She lives close enough to the border, that we were able to take a day trip to Detroit and the Motown Museum. They had a wall dedicated to Michael and his brothers, including the silver glove, and we were able to go down and walk through the actual recording studio. When I took a picture, the tour guide accused me of being a papparazzo, which made several people in the room laugh, even though I don't consider that to be much of a laughable career, oh well.

After my bridal shower on Sunday, my mom and I sat on her couch and watched VH1's music video tribute to MJ for two hours before I decided to start the drive back home. There were even some videos I don't recall seeing before, but they were for more of the lesser known songs.

I don't usually do a whole mourning thing for celebrities, however, these past few weeks have been an interesting time for the world. We lost the Kung Fu actor; the devastation in Iran; Farrah Fawcett succumbing to her awful struggle with cancer, MJ, Ed McMahon, and now I'm hearing reports of Billie Mays death.

Sorry for the doom and gloom, and all I can do is go back to the title of the post of working on "Healing the world."

90 Days and counting

I am beyond excited to see the number listed above! To top that off, I am actually ahead of schedule on most of the projects I'm currently finishing for our wedding. Pictures of the invites and that process should be up sometime this week, if I can remember to take them! Haha!

I have most of the bridal party/ house party/ and reader gifts ready, they just need to be wrapped. I only have to finish printing about 80 more RSVP cards, then they will be ready for the invite package as well. I have the guestbook idea figured out: I saw this in a magazine (may have been Modern Bride) a year ago, and the bride had taken various postcards for everyone to sign and for her to put in an album later. The postcards will be put in with any cards in the photo box I described earlier.

I start my next graduate school class sometime later this week, amidst my continued packing up of my apartment. With all the different projects and stacks of boxes/ stuff everywhere my apartment is not looking too happy right now, but that will be fixed in the next few weeks!

To end the random list of my current life happenings: I am almost positive I would not be able to survive without Cherry Lime Cokes from Sonic. Since Coca-Cola stopped selling the non-diet version of its Coke with lime, I have had to find other ways to get the best drink: Sonic Happy Hour!

Birthday week!

I love the first week of June! Why, you ask? It is known as birthday week in my fiance's family: his sister's is June 1st, his is today(!), and his dad's is on the 6th. This week, however, they are separated all over the place, so I was not able to take a family picture.

I started my master's degree classes yesterday, and am so far highly enjoying them.

Over the weekend, I also went and purchased Rick's wedding band! It feels good to have another item to check off the to-do list!

We also went to my friend Sarah's wedding to Neal! It was amazingly fun, and as soon as I locate my camera in my luggage I will upload a few highlights. I will leave you with this image: the pastor was wearing purple shoes! I loved it!!
